Tough Being a Fan
It’s pretty depressing to be a Chicago sports fan right now. You’ve got the White Sox incapable of scoring, the Cubs incapable of beating one of the worst teams in the National League, the Bears’ starting running back involved in a huge Texas-sized mess, and the Bulls not wanting to shell out the big bucks for a quality coach.
What kind of a backwards city do we live in when the Chicago Blackhawks, despite missing the playoffs, look like they might be the most exciting team in 2008 and into 2009. They seem to be making all the right moves. All home games will be on telvision. Some of the legends like Stan Mikita and Bobby Hull are coming back to be honored. Pay Foley will likely be returning to broacast Blackhawk hockey whenever the Wolves are done in the playoffs.
Speaking of the Wolves, apparently people have forgotten them judging by their crappy attendance. I think the problem is of course a bad economy and an improved Blackhawks team. But also a lot of people don’t get the Comcast channel and aren’t able to see the team. For someone like me who has Dish Network, the only way I can see the Wolves is to head to the United Center. And I just may do that.
And there’s also the Chicago Rush. How ironic that the two teams playing at Allstate are the only ones who seem to be winning.
