Game 7’s to Decide Who’s for Real (Celtics vs. Cavaliers)
There is no greater phrase than “We go to game 7.” All the predictions go out the window at this point because no matter what, anything can happen. For the Boston Celtics, they might be the team under the most pressure of the four teams. The acquistion of Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce should have at least made the first two rounds a cinch for this team. At home, the Celtics are able to click offensively and defensively. They are able to control the tempo and in a lot of cases blow their opponent off the court.
Although the Cleveland Cavaliers have LeBron James and are the defending Eastern Conference, there is nowhere near the pressure on this team because of teams like Boston. For James, if he can manage to beat the so-called unbeatable Celtics after taking a physical beating from the Wizards, it would be another notch on his belt.
Certain experts love to pick on LeBron James, but how many players could possibly carry such an inconsistent team to the Finals last year and now within one game of the Eastern Conference Finals. At 23 years of age James has been tremendous for the Cavaliers and for the league. He is able to make all series look competitive simply by either scoring or finding his teammates.
Even if Boston wins, they will have to play a fresh and determined Detroit Pistons team that was woken up early by the Philadelphia 76ers. If Cleveland wins, you can bet the Pistons will be itching for a rematch with the team that beat them last year. Although the Pistons have had their problems the last two years in the Conference Finals, maybe winning without their leader and starting point guard in Chauncey Billups will be what the doctor ordered.
