First Take: Rush vs. Avengers

By: Jerome Cusson

I’ll keep thing brief tonight since it’s late and my game report will speak for itself in many ways.

The Rush accomplished a great deal tonight. They set a pair of team records. The first is having two safeties in the first half. That’s also an AFL record. The second is the margin of victory, 44. The Rush also clinched the Central Division despite still having five games to go. Clinching the division also equals a bye and a home game on July 5, 6, or 7. The Rush also debuted their black, white, and silver uniforms in spectacular fashion.

For the Los Angeles Avengers, they completely embarrassed themselves and their franchise in front of a national television audience. I question why they even bothered to take a plane to Rosemont. Receivers Travis LeTendresse and Donovan Morgan were constantly open. It wouldn’t surprise me if LeTendresse wasn’t touched by a single Avengers’ player the whole night. Timon Marshall, one of the best kick returners in the league, couldn’t get anywhere because his blocking was nowhere to be seen. The Avengers two quarterbacks proved why a two quarterback system is a bad idea most of the time.

Onto Utah and a team Coach Mike Hohensee seems very concerned about. He went out of his way to mention them even before the press room did. Clearly, he’s concerned about a short rest and a long trip to a city where their team is desperate to try and make the playoffs. One thing I can say, the Blaze can’t play any worse than the Avengers.
