Take Derrick Rose
So I come home to find out the Chicago Bulls, despite having a very low odds, actually winning the lottery. Here’s my thinking on this. The Bulls have a roster full of guys who can play decent for someone else, but together they pretty much stink. Ben Gordon and Kirk Hinrich should be traded as soon as possible. I think the best thing for the Bulls is a sign-and-trade of some sort for Gordon and just an outright trade for Hinrich. With the first pick in the 2008 draft I expect to here Derrick Rose’s name. He’s a local product and a point guard. With point guard play being so huge in this league, and a lot of questions about what Michael Beasley can do, it’s so obvious to me that Rose is for sure the better NBA prospect. He might not be the best option, but for this draft, he’s got to be the answer.
For the rest of the roster, John Paxson should solicit offers. Treat this like a garage sale and try and get the best deal available. No one should be untouchable and everyone should be considered expendable. Based on the performance of all these players, no should be treated with kid gloves because everyone disappointed.
The Bulls are a team in a weak conference but who have very little direction. Considering the fact that they have the first pick and Rose is likely the pick, the Bulls should now pick a coach accordingly who can create an offense for Rose to best operate in. This is a golden opportunity for the Bulls. At the risk of being irrelavent, the Bulls must make the smart moves to become a playoff team next year.

I don’t know that trading Hinrich will be that easy. His contract his awful and he’s coming off his worst season.
I guess I agree with Rose, but all Bulls fans have talked about for years is getting a low-post scorer. Isn’t that Beasley? Isn’t he a better fit?
