The White Sox Starring Carlos Quentin
The White Sox managed to avoid a sweep by the Los Angeles Angels thanks to a fantastic effort from Jose Contreras, who continues to show the same flashes of brilliance as he did in 2005, and Carlos Quentin.
Quentin continues to be one of the biggest finds in this offseason for Kenny Williams. Williams had taken a lot of deserved shots for some of the things he’s done in certain trades, but if young Carlos continues to have games like he did tonight, he will be the most improbable MVP of all time.
Quentin got three of the White Sox six hits. He drove in all three runs and hit a game-winning walk-off home run against Angels starter John Lackey. Considering how dominant Lackey looked against everyone else, so much so he had just 77 pitches going into theĀ 9th inning. Quentin seemed to bring the magic formul, much to the relief of his teammates. The Sox were in danger of being swept and thanks to the leftfielder, the Sox go into a long road trip with a little bit of momentum.
Up next is a return date with the Cleveland Indians. Hopefully, the Sox will be “Progressive” and find a way to sweep them once again.
